On May 21st, the provincial "Three Year Action Plan for Reducing and Replacing Feed Soybean Meal" and an on-site exchange meeting on the application results of ruminant food conservation were successfully convened in Yucheng. This initiative aimed to deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' "Three Year Action Plan for Reducing and Replacing Feed Soybean Meal." Its objective was to guide the feed and aquaculture industry in reducing the utilization of soybean meal, thereby promoting food conservation and consumption reduction.

The event brought together esteemed individuals including Xia Xianzhu, an academician of the People's Liberation Army Academy of Military Sciences, Zhai Guiyu, a researcher of the Shandong General Animal Husbandry Station, Zuo Bo, a professor from the School of Animal Science and Technology at Huazhong Agricultural University, along with various university experts, scholars, and leaders from ruminant breeding and feed production enterprises. Li Ting, a fourth-level researcher from the Dezhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Development Center, expertly presided over the activities.

CTC was honored to be invited to participate in this significant gathering, contributing to the discussion and exchange of ideas aimed at fostering sustainable practices within the feed and aquaculture industry.

The participants first went to Ronghui Green Beef Cattle Breeding Cooperative in Fangsi to witness the results of food saving feeding test of beef cattle on the spot. The test of feeding beef cattle by Ronghui Green Beef Cattle Breeding Cooperative began on February 15, 2023, and has been carried out for three months. Through observation, weighing Fecal three-stage screening (observing the digestion and absorption of feed and forage), experts unanimously believe that this experiment has been a complete success. The experimental group of beef cattle is superior to the control group in terms of appearance, weight gain, and digestion and absorption.

In order to give full play to the professional support role of experts in the animal husbandry industry chain think tank, Academician Xia Xianzhu, Professor Zuo Bo, Professor Zou Ming, Dean Tian Maojin, and Teacher Yang Yukong carried out technical training for enterprises on the chain in aspects of zoonosis, breeding, prevention and control of paraneneneba tuberculosis, application of micro nutrition rumen regulation in the reduction and replacement of feed soybean meal, and practical experience in management of breeding sites.

During the discussion and exchange time, experts and business leaders shared insights and shared development opportunities around topics such as reducing feed and grain production.

In her speech, Zhai Guiyu emphasized the imperative for the aquaculture industry to prioritize "food conservation and frugality," particularly by reducing the reliance on feed grains. She stressed the importance of continually striving to "enhance efficiency, conserve grains, and seek alternative sources." Starting with the implementation of the three-year action plan, she advocated for the promotion of comprehensive measures such as efficiency enhancement, diversification of feed sources, and structural adjustments. This approach would entail integrating technology, providing standard guidance, conducting pilot demonstrations, and increasing policy support. These efforts are crucial for driving the feed breeding industry to reduce its dependency on soybean meal, promoting conservation and reduction of feed grains, and facilitating the transformation of animal husbandry from quantity-driven growth to quality-focused efficiency.

Building on this event, CTC China is poised to maintain its leadership role within the animal husbandry industry chain. We will intensify efforts to strengthen collaboration across departments, provinces, and localities, fostering synergies between government, enterprises, and scientific institutions. Through these partnerships, we will drive innovation, promote the adoption of new technologies, and ensure the effective supply of animal products.

Central to our mission is the coordination of protein feed resources, including plant and animal microorganisms, to optimize feed utilization. By guiding the feed breeding industry in reducing soybean meal consumption and promoting food conservation and consumption reduction, we aim to secure a stable and safe food supply while enhancing the sustainability of agricultural practices. Through these concerted efforts, we are committed to safeguarding the stability and safety of food and other essential agricultural products.
